Lots of celebrities claim to be entrepreneurs, but not just anyone can close an eight-figure distribution deal. Artist and TV personality Ray J just closed a $31 million distribution deal to launch Raycon Global, a high-demand consumer electronics start-up. Ray J joins Cheddar to tell us all about his new company, and why his passion for products is making him refocus his career.
Ray J's first product is the Scoot-E-Bike: a foldable, two-wheeled electric vehicle that went viral in 2016. The entrepreneur tells us about the importance of celebrity-influencer marketing to his brand. He also gives us a glimpse of what other products his company is working on for an early December release date.
Ray J also weighs in on the entrepreneurial success of his famous ex, Kim Kardashian. Discussing her accomplishments, he says, "the numbers don't lie," referencing her fragrance line selling $10 million of perfume in one day. Finally, Ray J tells us why he admires Elon Musk and why he thinks Raycon has what it takes to follow in Tesla's footsteps.
